No satellites have been sent to explore Neptune. However, the Voyager 2 space probe conducted a flyby of Neptune in 1989, providing valuable information and images of the planet and its moons.
Voyager 2 flew past Neptune in August 1989. The HST took its first pix of Neptune in 2005.
Voyager 2 spacecraft headed toward Neptune in the year 1989. But I have no idea if the voyager photograph Neptune's rings.
