It is a fictional establishment, akin to Glocka Mora or Shangri-La. It never did exist. I never saw the play- so I do not know how the time-warp was resolved. they may have used the nightmare or Govt. test experiment (short-cut) to explain the unexplainable.
The story involves two American tourists who stumble upon Brigadoon, a mysterious Scottish village that appears for only one day every hundred years. Tommy, one of the tourists, falls in love with Fiona, a young woman from Brigadoon.
Brigadoon was technically written by two people: Alan Jay Lerner wrote the book and lyrics for the musical, while Frederick Loewe put together the musical act.
It was a dramatic musical play. I am not sure it was adapted to movie form. My Fair lady was, of course, also by Lerner & Loewe. I am not sure Brigadoon was done in movie format.
