Montgomery, Alabama was the capital of the Confederate States of America from February 4 until May 29, 1861. The confederate capital moved to Richmond, Virginia May 30, 1861. The Confederate government moved to Danville, Virginia in 1865 as Richmond fell to the Federal army.
