I would say most 13yo have a lock on their door. Everyone is entitled to their privacy.
On my car because the mechanism is 26 years old this year and worn out.
=== === the answer is 1831
Depending on the year, make, and model of the car...but generally, you have to remove the inside door panel and there is usually some form of linkage attached to the lock, and a clip of some sort securing the lock cylinder to the inside of the door.

Over 2 billion combined lock and keys
What Year? The fox body mustang locks are easy to change. Take the interior door panel off and on the back side of the lock you have to disconect the linkage from it. Then there is a clip holding it to the door. Just pull that clip off and the lock will pull straight out.
Are we talking about a deadbolt? US or European? You should be able to remove the lock from the inside. There will probably be a couple screws that hold it to the exterior part of the lock. Once you have that off, you will be able to twist the mechanism inside to pull the deadbolt back to open the door. If you do not see any screws, some locks have an escutcheon ring around them that will need to be popped off first. The escutcheon will probably have a very small notch in it right next to the door to enable you to put a small flat blade screwdriver in it to pry with. Note that you are only trying to get this cover off of the lock....do not try to pry the whole lock off.
I can only speak from my own experience, but, I had to fix a seized door lock (drvrs side, rear) last year on my 1997.
Do you mean lock cylinder? Depending on the year, lock cylinders are held in by U-shaped metal retainers. Some you can see inside the door jamb. Open the door and look at the jamb area behind lock cylinder. If you see a slot with a flap of metal coming out that is the lock retainer. You can pull this out completely - takes a bit of effort and lock will come out now. If you can't see retainer in your jamb, you must remove door panel and remove retainer from inside door.
Locks have been around for thousands of years. One of the early locks is 4,000 years old and found in the ruins of a palace outside of Nineveh. In 1778 Robert Barron invented the double acting tumbler lock and Joseph Bramah invented a better lock in 1784. His list of inventions are vast. James Sargent in 1857 invented the 1st key changeable combination lock.
Invention by a man in PA that was sold door to door and last year made billions in sales
