In Commonwealth countries such as UK Canada, Australia, NZ etc. the Boy Scouts are just that, BOYS, and the term Scout is restricted to the males. the female analog organization are called, without exception Girl Guides. This is written as a noune clause, Girl defining Guides, and not hyphenated or as one word. They are two separate organizaiton entities as in the US, but even the terms are different. This has no connection to Guide books to, say cities.
In NZ and Australia, girls can be scouts, however, boys cannot be guides. NZ Girls were allowed to be venturers in 1979, Scouts in 1987 and cubs and keas (junior sections) in 1989. I would assume Australia is similar
