ECU stands for 'Engine Control Unit' and controls factors such as ignition timing, air/fuel ratio and in more advanced engines factors such as variable valve timing, exhaust butterflies, water injection etc. Pretty much all modern engines are controlled via and ECU instead of by mechanical means.

The fuse box is under the riders seat on the Yamaha R1. It is between the battery and the ECU and it is has a hinged lid that opens from left to right.

If, by ECU you mean "Engine Control Unit", I don't believe a 1968 dodge pickup had one.
