That elbow pipe ( thermostat housing ) has 2 bolts in it, take them out and remove the housing ( you may have to tap it with a rubber mallet) be sure to have a new gasket ready and remove all traces of the old one before reassembly.

On my 1996 Oldsmobile cutlass supreme it was very easy to remove the stereo. The entire plastic molding piece that surrounds the stereo as well as covers the speedometer is attached by some push clips and can be simply pulled off, no screws. Once the plastic surrounding is removed there will be 2 screws holding the stereo in place. Remove the 2 screws and pull the stereo out. Unplug the wire harness and antenna.

I had a very similar problem on my 95 Oldsmobile cutlass supreme. After hours of pain staking work I finally found that a wire was loose. The wire is coated red and is beneath the fuse box on the drivers side directly behind the windshield wash tank. There is an eyelet on the end of the wire and one screw holding it in place directly under the fuse box. As soon as I tightened the screw my problem went away.

On my 1988 Cutlass Supreme the cable broke at the release point in the car. I was unable to see anything from the outside so in the passenger compartment I took the release handle apart and used a set up pliers to pull the cable and release the hood. There should be just on bolt holding the release in place, it may be covered by the carpet. If it can't be done from the inside you can also reach up from under the front bumper and find the cable where it attaches to the latch. Just pull the cable and the hood should release.
How do you change a windshield washer pump on a Cutlass Supreme 93?
I recently had to put a washer fluid bottle and washer pump in a 1992 Cutlass Supreme convertible that I purchased. I believe the 1993 is the same. The windshield washer pump mounts vertically on the back side of the windshield washer fluid bottle. You will likely have to remove the brace on the driver's side, and the two nuts holding the left side fuse block to the fender. You will also have to undo the positive battery terminal. Undo the two clips holding the washer reservoir at the front. Start to lift the washer reservoir out, and you should see the hose that is connected at the back rear of the reservoir. You can unclip the hose using a long flat head screwdriver. You should be able to see the washer pump mounted vertically at the rear of the bottle. Unclip the electrical connector and you can pull the pump straight up out of the bottle. I found a washer reservoir and a washer pump at a "U-Pick" scrapyard and believe that I paid $5.00 for both and they worked great. The washer bottle came out of a Lumina, the washer pump from a Sunfire and I noticed that it had the same part number on it as the one in my Cutlass. Once I had all that back together, I wasn't getting any fluid on the windshield, but noticed some running in the cowling at the bottom of the windshield. The lines were disconnected under the cowling, and by removing the panel at the bottom of the windshield, I was able to reconnect it.
