In the body, all joints are made of a joint capsule that has a membrane to secrete synovial fluid and protect the moving parts. Then there are ligaments that hold the bones close to each other. Then there is a special cartilage called hyaline between them so the bones don't touch each other and have a slippery surface between them to minimize and friction.
