the 400 better storke & bore diameter
i actually wound up deciding to stroke the 350 block to 3.75 and bore it .030 over and build a 383 (382.74 actual cid) and put a rev limiter on it at 6500 rpm so that i dont spin a bearing or anything for a drag engine but thanks for the advice. personally i dont like 400 blocks cuz they run hotter and crack easier and i have never had luck with them. but other people like them so it helped pay for my project by seeling the 400 block
It's all in the name! They are small wooden blocks that you can build things with. children are usually gifted them.
it all depends what you want your vehicle to do.alot of people believe in the small blocks like myself you can build them up get good mpg, horsepower, and torque and you can stroke them up easy.big blocks are great in power and torque and can get insane horsepower.it just all depends on what you want it for.
No, the small blocks have the distributor in the rear.
Factory stock, the 400 cu. in.
engine has bad intake valve,
big blocks were orangeish red and the small block was a blue color.
yes it fit alot of Chevy engines including all small blocks and big blocks to same bolt pattern
The valve covers are wider then the small blocks and when looking at the headers the all four exhaust ports are spaced apart while the small blocks the middle two are side by side.
Not from Chevrolet, but you can build one from aftermarket parts.
fits old chevy trucks and cars 350,307,327 engines and other small blocks.
350 and under are small blocks. There is also a 400 small block but there is a 400 large block. 396 and up are big blocks.
Even though GM still claims this is a "Small Block" the last of the real small blocks was built in the 2000's
