The best fuel for any car is recommended by the manufacturer. The octane number on gas has no direct effect of gas milage it rates the anti-knock or resistance to explosion when put under the extreme temperatures and pressures inside the combustion chamber. If you dont know what the manufacturer recomends mid-grade gas is fine for either end of the spectrum. Regular gas is recommended for the ls but if their is any modifications to the intake system or you put it under a lot of heavy loads then mid-grade is best.
