Best Answer

Most will stay on at the convent and help out as best as they are able. Many orders do have assisted living facilities or nursing homes for nuns who require more attention. In other words, they all will receive care and are not simply thrown out into the street.

What age could you become a nun?

Any age became nuns. Some children that were left at the nunneries never left and became nuns. Often older women would become nuns because they were sent there by husbands or they were left alone and the nunneries were safe places.

What was a nuns education?

Roman Catholic AnswerA nuns education is entirely dependent upon what order she belongs to. Normally, when speaking of nun, as opposed to a sister, the basic education required would be religious, spirituality, history, etc. There would be basic education in prayer, etc., and Latin if that is the language used for the Office. Some nuns are not strictly cloistered, and may, perhaps run a school or, in the case of some Benedictine nuns, they may teach or nurse, like a sister. These nuns are sent for advanced education to the appropriate school.

Who served Medieval nuns?

No one. They had to take care of themselves. Not only were they women without rights or privileges, but they were nuns. Often women were sent to a nunnery as a punishment by their husbands or if a husband just wanted to be rid of his wife he sent her there.

What did the Roman Church and Orthodox Church become after they split?

Roman Catholic AnswerThe Catholic Church remained the Catholic Church. It cannot "become" anything else, as Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to guide it until the end of time. It will remain His Body, it will remain One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic. The Orthodox Church became schismatic (they are in schism from the Catholic Church).

Was Hitler anti-Catholic?

Hitler was a Nazi. Most historians believe he was anti-catholic. He closed religious schools, shut down Christian organizations, ordered the murder of priests, not to mention the German leader of Catholic Action. He had Christian civil servants fired, he confiscated church property, censored religious newspapers. and sent thousands of Catholic priests, nuns, and laypeople to die in extermination camps. While he was born Catholic, he was explicit in rejecting their religion, calling it "the Jewish Christ-creed with its effeminate, pity-ethics".

What is the name of the first school in 1725 founded in Louisiana by Roman Catholic priest?

It's just Catholic, not Roman Catholic. Roman is an epithet first commonly used in England after the protestant revolt to describe the Catholic Church. It is never used by the official Catholic Church. The first school in Louisiana was the Ursuline Convent for girls, established in 1727 in New Orleans: As girls could not be sent to Europe to obtain an education, a school for them was absolutely necessary in New Orleans, and Bienville, at the suggestion of the Jesuit Father de Beaubois, asked that six Ursuline nuns be sent from France to attend to the hospital and to open a school for girls. The nuns arrived in July, 1727, and were received with great kindness by Governor Périer, his wife, and the people of the town. In 1734 the Ursulines occupied the convent, built for them by the Government, which is still standing on Chartres street. They remained there until 1824, when they moved to another building down the river. Their services as educators of the girls of Louisiana in colonial times were invaluable. See links below.
