I had a 1988 Pontiac Sunbird GT with the 2.0L Turbocharged engine. I replaced the alternator every 26K mi. I believe this was due to the underhood temperatures caused by the turbo. I had the car for 123K mi. before I sold it. Still in great shape. Could be due to a short in the electrical system or a bad ground.
I've replaced one before, you don't need to lift the engine, but there is some there is some crazy angles to work with.
Marks are grooves that are cast into the camshaft sprocket and rear cover. crankshaft pulley has notch must be aligned with 10 degree btbc mark (metal plate with #'s) before timing belt is removed
not sure about on a 93. But mine 94 2.o has it on the left (driver side) wheel panel inside the hood. it is screwed into the side panel right before the battery.
below the steering column on the left almost to the floor There're two in a 1994 Pontiac sunbird. The one explained above is the HAZARD flasher; the other flasher, for your signal lights, is on the right side of your steering wheel column, higher up, if it hasn't been changed before, then it could be jammed up there. It's hiding pretty good, but I promise you...look hard, it's there. If it hasn't been changed before, it should have two blue lines across it.
The climax comes immediately before the resolution or denouement.
Go to the Pontiac dealership before it closes for good!!
AnswerI have a 93 sunbird. The thermostat is located right under the radiator cap. Wait for the car to cool down. remove the radiator cap. you will see an aluminum bar pull the bar out and that is your thermostat. top off the coolant before installing the new thermostat. put the new thermostat in. push on it a little bit to make sure you get a good seal and then replace the radiator cap. That is all there is to it. the thermostat on these cars is really easy to change and i have done it several times.
