If the battery is stone dead it won't take a jump. If the battery has some life in it check for dirty or loose battery connections. If the battery and connections check okay it could be a bad starter.

You may have a dead battery. Get a charge in the battery or get a jump start. Also, if you're in the US most of the major auto parts stores (for example, Advanced Auto Parts) will test the battery for free. Check the earth connections between the battery & the chassis also between the chassis and the engine

If you can jump start the car then the battery is not fine. Remove the battery cables and thoroughly clean them. If it still will not start check the voltage at the battery with the engine off. You should get 12.6 volts if the battery is fully charged. 12.4 it is 75%, 12.2 it is 50%, and 12.0 it is 25% charged. I would bet your battery is defective.
