old cats tend to sleep more but when a cat is about to die it wants to sort of hide. some people say they're trying to hide from death but others say they dont want to hurt their loved ones. cats who are outdoor cats will try to run off and hide in trees, and indoor cats might try to go underneath something or where their owners dont go very often.sadly cats dont have 9 lives.

They simply sleep on their own. But I suggest getting a pet bed or buying a dog/cat house so they can have a more comfortable sleep.

Why would a cat lay around like she's dying?

Some cats just sleep and sleep. Fixed/altered cats are also known to be generally lazy. If your cat -looks- like she's dying, she has a serious medical problem, and needs emergency care right away. If she is acting abnormal, this only encourages that possibility. If it is a matter of the cat over-sleeping, you may want to ask for veterinary advice, but generally, cats do sleep a lot. If she (if it is a she) is rolling around, yowling, or laying with her rear end propped up, this means that she is in heat. It's suggested to get your cats fixed as soon as possible.
