it was the result of the gucciardo battalion..they had problems shooting the Italian rifle..a beautiful but complex instrument operated best by people with ten fingers..9 and half won't cut it..and most of the gucciardo battalion had nine and a half or less..had it not been for this quirk of fateand poor choice of weapons, the battle of gucciardio could have been won and the tide turned.
