Light fixtures in a room are selected on the basis of the kind of light, and the amount of light that you want to have in that room. Your decision about whether to use high maintenance or low maintenance types of lighting is a separate issue, which is based upon your personal willingness to invest effort in maintaining your lighting, as well as your opinion about the relative aesthetics of the various types of lighting. Or in other words, if you really like the way some high maintenance kind of lighting looks, you might be willing to use it and to commit yourself to the high maintenance. You could, of course, decide that since your room has, or requires a large number of fixtures, you therefore do not want high maintenance lighting. But then, you might also decide that since high maintenance lighting is the kind you want, you are willing to invest the effort.
