If the dog is a smaller breed, like a chihuahua, you should feed it puppy food until it is about 8 or 9 months old, but if it is a larger breed, like a whippet, you should feed it puppy food until it is about 1 year and a half old. When you do make the switch between puppy food and adult food, you should mix half the amount of puppy food you normally feed it with half the amount of adult food you are going to feed it together, then put in a bit of chicken or rice to make it easier for your dogs system to get used to. If you do not introduce the switch in a subtle way (by adding chicken or rice) your dog's stomach will not get used to it and will simply give it back. (which could be a bit messy!!) Hope this helped ! :-)

When they are first weaned by their mothers from her milk.

Well first, as you know, their mother feeds them puppy milk. After a while when they are the right age, she will wean them by gradually reducing the nursing time and increasing bites of her food or other things she provides and lets them eat.

At this point when the mother is still feeding them well, you decide what puppy food you will use, and plan ahead for your next steps. Go to the store and read the label directions so you know what to do from there. The labels on puppy foods usually have very good, easy to understand, and well detailed instructions.

As you get the puppies their routine vaccinations at the vet, tell her what you are feeding and ask for guidance if there is something else you should be doing at your puppy's current age. [Hint: you don't need to buy any expensive dog foods from the vet in most cases. You may need their special foods if it is to prevent allergy or control levels of certain body chemicals, etc. but as long as you find the equivalent (check the label ingredients) among the premium dog foods at the store, they may be more economic.]

No, puppy food is for growing pups, it helps the pup develop a healthy brain and strong bones. Full grown dogs should be eating food for DOGS. puppy food is not enough to fill a Full grown dogs stumach.

Puppy food is good for and should be given to pregnant dogs for about a month before she has the puppies, and it's good to continue with puppy food for a while after she has them. By feeding your adult dog puppy food, she will be able to consume the necessary nutrients to provide for her rapidly growing brood. You can gradually switch her back to her adult food after the pups are 4-5 weeks old.

The best food to feed them would be a bagged food. My coonhounds bear hunt and bench show so they need a glossy coat, and a lot of energy and protein. For a puppy, use puppy chow. Mix half of that puppy chow with something different. (another puppy chow)Once the pup grows to be 4 months old, mix it with adult dog food. As soon as it turns 8 months, you can go to adult dog food

What do baby dogs eat?

Puppies nurse until they are about 6 to 8 weeks old. After that, a domesticated puppy should be put onto a puppy chow. Wild dogs, after they are weened, will be brought food from the older dogs, and they will eat meats, and be taught to hunt, although dogs are omnivores, like bears, so they could sometimes eat fruits and vegitables.
