There isn't a specific time. You just need to make sure you aren't sick, and you are thoroughly washing your hands and complying with all of the health regulations for food handling. If you are sick, then you should ask your doctor whether you have something that is communicable, and how long to wait.

it's probably to do with it's diet. if it's too rich it will get diarrhea. cut back on the food you are giving it, or change the diet to something more simple.
