if you havent ever changed one before then you shouldn't mess with it, the freon inside the compressor is poisionest, it needs to be drained, new compressor installed, filled with dye to test for leaks, drained again and then re-fill with freon.
No problems. Your AC will just work a little better.
I have the same issue with my avalon. If u have already checked all the hoses and filled ur freon tanks the its most likely a problem with the ac compressor. i priced it at autozone for around 265.
It could be several reasons. First, the freon level may be low. I would have the freon pressure checked first, or you can do yourself. Second, you could have a bad compressor sensor. Third, the compressor itself could be bad or you could have bad expansion valve. All could cause short cycling.
Reclaim the freon as it is illegal to let it into the atmosphere. Take the drive belt for the compressor off, then remove the lines. Unbolt the compressor and swap it with the new one. Connect the lines back with new o rings. Put the belt back on. The system will need a vacuum pull before it can be filled with freon.
Purchase a Freon recharge kit. Connects the Freon hoses to the ports on the air conditioner compressor. Release the Freon into the compressor.
This is normal it does it to cycle the freon
compressor
The compressor wont turn if the freon levels are too low! It has a cutoff so if the freon all escapes the system the compressor wont be damaged.
You will need to connect your Freon bottle to the low pressure port on your 2002 Chevy Cavalier air conditioning compressor. Release the Freon into the compressor. A Freon recharge kit will come with everything you need and instructions.
Shops use a freon recovery system that contains the freon while the system gets worked on. The system has to be cleaned and vaccumed properly to remove trash and moisture or it will fail again or even not function properly.
you have a bad electrical connection on the ac compresser.
