File servers do those things. There are specialized servers as well, for example web servers, database servers, remote access servers, fax servers--the list goes on and on. But file servers are the backbone of providing access and managing files and who has access to what resources at which times.BTW. Access to the network is usually referred to as Authentication. And Rights or Security Management is usually what controls access to files, printers, and other resources.

There are 3 different types of computers in common use; * PC(Personal Computer) - These are the standard desktop or tower computers. They have standard operat5ing systems on them and are used for general personal and/or business use. * Laptop - Also known as Notebooks. These are portable computers. They are more compact than PC's as well as more durable...and usually more expensive. Uses are similar to PCs. * Servers - Physically these may resemble PCs, or may come on a rack-mountable form. The operating systems on these are designed to provide services, such as email, websites, FTP and the like. They are more basic as far as convenience applications go, but are more robust.
Depends on your needs or who you want to impress. it can be called client/server technology, hosted applications, 2-tier or 3-tier technology, SAAS (software as a service) and the latest one is cloud technology or cloud servers.
Closeout servers are shared servers, thus they have less available resources for each user. Closeout servers would only allow the customer to host some less demanding applications, such as a website, whereas a Windows Dedicated Server would allow the person to host anything from Voice over IP channels to game servers.
Load balancing in web servers is a method of sharing/assigning workloads across different computers, network links or other resources to maximise throughput and reduce response time to prevent the system from overloading.
