File servers do those things. There are specialized servers as well, for example web servers, database servers, remote access servers, fax servers--the list goes on and on. But file servers are the backbone of providing access and managing files and who has access to what resources at which times.BTW. Access to the network is usually referred to as Authentication. And Rights or Security Management is usually what controls access to files, printers, and other resources.
Servers
Most servers have what's called a RAID-5 array. Some examples of servers are network servers which allow many computers to use the same network, game servers which are used by game companies and allow thousands of people to play their game at the same time, and telecom servers which control your phone service and possibly your cable service.
Industrial computers will be great for workstation use, assuming the operating system supports your application. For instance, Itanium computers or HP-UX servers may not make good workstations due to application incompatibility.

There are 3 different types of computers in common use; * PC(Personal Computer) - These are the standard desktop or tower computers. They have standard operat5ing systems on them and are used for general personal and/or business use. * Laptop - Also known as Notebooks. These are portable computers. They are more compact than PC's as well as more durable...and usually more expensive. Uses are similar to PCs. * Servers - Physically these may resemble PCs, or may come on a rack-mountable form. The operating systems on these are designed to provide services, such as email, websites, FTP and the like. They are more basic as far as convenience applications go, but are more robust.
1. The components of a cloud computing are --------------- i. Client computers --------It includes devices, such as desktops and laptops devices, which use the cloud computing devices such as access to database servers, application servers, and storage devices. ii. Application servers ---------- It includes various servers, such as SharePoint server, which is either used for running the developed application by the users or is used for providing the application development software to develop the application by the developer. iii. Storage devices -------- It includes various devices known as storage boxes that store large amounts of data at a centralized location. iv. Networks components ---------- It includes various components such as cables, hardware firewalls, hubs, routers, bridges and switches. v. Control node ----------- It controls and monitors the accessibility of various cloud computing services such as storage devices, application servers, and database servers.
Load balancing in web servers is a method of sharing/assigning workloads across different computers, network links or other resources to maximise throughput and reduce response time to prevent the system from overloading.
