Abraham was a monotheist who believed that the worship of the One God was for all Mankind. He was not, therefore, a Jew. Judaism is a name given to the later followers of Moses. In fact, even Moses did not teach Judaism, for Judaism is exclusive to the Jewish people. He did not teach that. that was a corruption of the original faith. All true Prophets of God taught that the One God is for EVERYONE - not just one people.
Jewish answer:
Abraham was a monotheist who believed that the worship of the One God was for all Mankind. Therefore he is called a Jew (Talmud, Megillah 13a), since that is the definition of Judaism in its most basic sense. The fact that not all peoples adopted his beliefs and practices was through no fault of his own.
And to finally) address the actual Question: God spoke to Abraham in 1737 BCE.
Calculations based on the Torah (Jewish Bible) tell us that Abraham was born 1,948 years after the Creation and lived for 175 years. Therefore, he lived between about 1812 BCE and 1637 BCE. However, there is no general agreement on these dates and other sources list different times for his birth - for example, the Jewish text Book of Jubilees states that his birth was 1,876 years after the Creation, whereas the Samaritan version of Genesis says 2,247 years after the Creation. Abraham was 99 years old when G-d reappeared to him to confirm their earlier covenant (agreement), and it was at this point that Abraham was circumcised. If we assume it was at this point that the Jewish religion began, it would have been around 1713 BCE.
