Castro did not attend Harvard. Castro did have the knowledge to go to such a university as he has a law degree from the University of Havana and practiced law prior to the Cuban Revolution. He was a respected lawyer who became disenchanted with politics in Cuba thus becoming a revolutionary. Castro was not anti-US from the start and did not join the Communist Party until 1962, three years after his taking control of Cuba.
No, just the opposite. The US tried to prevent Castro from defeating Batista, because Batista was friendly toward the US and Castro was a Communist. The US never wanted Castro to take over and this can be seen by the later "Bay of Pigs" invasion that the US sponsored but failed to back up. There are accounts that the US through the CIA planned some elaborate schemes to kill Castro after he took over.
Fidel Castro never lived in the US, he spent a three month honeymoon in New York City in 1948. He also considered enrolling at Columbia University, he chose instead to return to Cuba to get his law degree.
Yes, they wanted to overthrow Fidel Castro.
AS i understand, there is no us business in Cuba due to Fidel Castro or his brother being in charge over there.
The US wasn't....
It appears that Cubans fled to US.
I have heard directly from a former US Army Special Forces operative that we DID aid Castro in the early days as Batista was less and less willing to yield to US pressure. Of course Castro soon turned on us and the rest is well, history...
The US and Mexico
Like Iraq, the US supported Castro in the beginning.
Castro has never been an ally of the US, he has expressed his contemp and hatred of the US on numerous occasions. During his hours long speeches he always refers to the US as a capitalist country that wants to exploit Cuba's resources. Although after the defeat of Batista, the US government offered Castro its help and good will, only to find out that he was a marxist fanatic in bed with the USSR.
The Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba under US president Kennedy attempted to overthrow Castro.
