Korea is the only region that self-proselytized to Christianity. In 1603, a Korean diplomat to China, Yi Gwang-jeong, met with a Jesuit missionary named Matteo Ricci in Beijing and became convinced of merits of Catholicism. When he returned to Korea, he began disseminating books given to him by the Jesuit and started the Catholic faith in Korea. In the late 1800s, when Korea was forcibly opened up to trade with West, Protestantism made its way to Korea.

Not that long ago, Christianity was considered offensive in North Korea and simply possessing a bible was cause for arrest. Today, Christianity is highly suppressed, but Christians in North Korea are represented by the Korean Christian Federation. This government-controlled organization is in charge of all contact with other churches and governments by Christians in North Korea.
Christianity and Buddhism are in South Korea. Even though Christians have been persecuted in North Korea, they still love God and even pray for Kim Jong Un's soul to awake to God and become Christian. Juche religion is in North Korea, but it should respect other faiths like Christianity.
