Modern day Jehovah's Witnesses started to form into congregations in the 1870's. By 1881 they recognized the need to preach from house-to-house and visit every household personally. They preached in business territory also. There are documented reports from that time forward.
At first we had no real training program; but that developed in time, as we encouraged everyone we contacted to join us in the door-stop ministry. Some did not wish to do it, so they left.
But now we have 2 weekly meetings, devoted directly to training for this kind of ministry. The training is free. Now we have approx 8 million door-step ministers; and 19 million attending our annual Memorial meeting.
REBUTTAL: Jehovah's Witnesses did not even exist in the 1870's, the name not being adopted until the early 1930's under the Watchtower's 2nd President, "Judge" Rutherford. Up until then, the group that represented the "Watchtower" Org were known as the International Bible Students and this corporation was started by "Pastor" Russell, the WT's 1st President in the 1870's.
NOTE: neither men possessed the legal and rightful claim to the titles they self-bestowed upon themselves.
It was under Rutherford that the now newly-named "Jehovah's Witnesses" organization began going door to door, not preaching per se, but only using a phonograph playing Rutherford's speeches that condemned what they referred to as "Christendom", or all other religions claiming to be Christian. The Catholic Church was especially vilified in these bombastic and condemnatory recordings. The inflammatory and judgmental recordings resulted in many JW's being "tar & feathered" in many localities throughout the USA to which JW's howled of being "persecuted". Really?
Today's door-to-door work requires approx 7500 hours, on average, to create one single convert in the USA. Can you picture Jesus or any of His disciples requiring all this time for one single convert? I think not as the WT's message is flawed, focused on their Org and not on Jesus Christ, the only true Gospel (good news).
I believe so as there is no other organisation that is known for their preaching as much as Jehovah's witnesses. for example Mormon's do going on a preaching work campaign but only do it for 3/4 years however Jehovah's witnesses preach as much as they can as they feel that it is a commission that has been given to them by god.
Not all of Jehovah's Witnesses experience God's "anointing". This is because Jehovah's Witnesses believe that only those who are going to heaven will receive this "anointing". Those who are not going to heaven will have an opportunity to live forever in a paradise on earth, as Jesus promised. You can learn more by going to their official website.
Yes, Jehovah's Witnesses have no religious objection to going to the theatre. They will generally avoid shows that contain excessive violence or sexually immoral or explicit content.
Supposedly she was raised going to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Whether she is a baptised, active member of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses is unknown. It is important to note that Jehovah's Witnesses is an active faith, so if a person is not actively engaged in the activities of Jehovah's Witnesses, they are not considered JW's by the congregation. Only baptised, active members are counted as JW's.
Well, Jehovah's witnesses try and follow the early Christians (Jesus, and his followers) as close as possible. Jesus has friends and even God (Jehovah) had made friends with people on earth, God made friends with Abraham. There are MANY examples in the bible of people having friends.... Why would Jehovah's witnesses not have friends? Jehovah's witnesses enjoy getting together with friends, and going out together, they consider their friends, as if they were family. OF COURSE they do! There is NO where in the bible that say's 'Thou shalt not have friends'.
To the best of my knowledge this individual is not one of Jehovah's Witnesses and does not attend their meetings at any Kingdom hall.
jehovahs witnesses have been going fron the beginning of time they were called bible students in early days they changed there name to jehovahs witnesses because they are doing the witness work the was done by jesus when he was on earth and also because jehovah is the almightys personal name hence jehovahs witnesses
We believe that science actually agrees with the Bible, and close scrutiny of the evidence reveals that there is a creator, and evolution is disproved by scientific research and discoveries. A book entitled "Life, How Did it Get Here, By Evolution or Creation?" published by Jehovah's Witnesses presents the scientific evidence that there had to be an intellegent creator is available free of charge from Jehovah's Witnesses, either at your door, visiting a Kingdom Hall, or by going to the following web address: https://watch002.securesites.net/contact/submit.htm
The name 'Jehovah's Witnesses' was adopted in 1931 proposed by Joseph Franklin Rutherford the second official president of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. Before then the followers of the Watchtower were known as the (International) Bible students. The Bible students were founded by a man named Charles Taze Russell, the first official president of the Watchtower and Tract Society, in 1879.

Yes. Just as properly bled meat may also have trace amounts remaining in it. Jehovah's Witnesses simply take reasonable precautions not to ingest blood. That means not seeking it out, while also not going to extremes to avoid natural trace amounts, such as might appear in breast milk.
ANSWER FROM ONE OF JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES... You should be told what station it is going to be sent out on when you get there but I believe the Elders will know in advance to be able to inform you, your best bet is to ask your Elders.
