The 108 is an 8hp Briggs & stratton tractor made from about 1980 to 1986. It was replaced by the JD 130. Your JD dealer should be able to look up the microfilm listing for the tractor and give you an exact year of manufacture from the serial number.

First production was 1988. Introduced the Gear and Hydro versions in 1993. Not sure when production ceased, but they came out with a newer STX model (46) in 1996.
The L130 was available in stores in 2004. The new, improved line of 100's, including the LA130 was available winter of 2007.
