The Seleucid satrap (governor) of Parthia, Andragoras, claimed independence in about 246 BCE following a previous successful secession by his neighbouring satrap in Bactria.

It didn't last however - soon after, a Parthian tribal chief called Arsaces invaded and took it over, founding the Parthian Empire.
