President Stephen Grover Cleveland is the only President to marry in the White House. He married Frances Folsom on June 2, 1886, during his first term (22nd President, 1885-1889). He lost the election of 1888 to Benjamin Harrison, but was elected again as the 24th President in 1892.

Frances was born July 20, 1864, the daughter of Cleveland's law partner Oscar Folsom, who died in an accident in 1875, shortly after Frances' 11th birthday. When they married, Cleveland was 49, 27 years older than his wife. After Cleveland died in 1908, Frances remarried in 1913, at age 48.
