To determine if a fuse is blown, visually inspect the fuse for a break in the metal strip inside. If the metal strip is broken, the fuse is blown and needs to be replaced.
yes.. it might not be it's own fuse it could be on a circurit with something else try looking in the owners manual if you don't have one use a test light (probe) hook clip end up to anything metal (door jam is perfect for this) now with the probe touch the pointed end to the fuse should be a 2 metal ends if the light comes on it's a good fuse if it don't it's a bad fuse good luck To add to the last answer, in the 1996 Cavalier, the horn shares a circuit with the cigarette lighter and interior lights. Look in the fuse box for a fuse marked CIG.
When replacing a fuse, the side of the fuse clip that goes first is typically the side with the metal cap or the "live" end. This is to ensure proper electrical contact and safety. Always make sure to turn off the power before replacing a fuse to avoid electrical shock.

Set a Volt-Ohm meter to Ohms and put the two leads from meter across the fuse. One on each end where the metal is located. The meter should read zero ohms if the fuse is NOT blown.
If you have access to the fuse box, take the fuse out and look at it. An intact fuse will have a visible, unbroken, metal strip running between the terminals. A blown fuse will have a broken metal strip on the inside and usually will be visibly discolored on the inside.
Answerget a test light the one that looks like a needle with a clamp on the end of a wire put the clamp on a metal part of car take out a new fuse you will see 2 silver ends on fuse one on each side of the number. go to your fuse block and touch the needle end on one then the other of the same fuse in fuse box if it lights both times the fuse is ok if only one side lights it was bad. you may have to use needle nose pliers to take out the fuse. You can also simply pull the fuse out and look for a break in the metal across the center of the fuse. The Owners Manual even has a diagram of what a blown fuse looks like.See "Related Questions" below for more
There are are no known processes in which metal is so smooth it begins to fuse together. Metal is typically fused together using welding or smelting.
If you mean how is it attached to the vehicle.. as you look at the fuse block and relay assembly you should see a plastic lug inserted into a hole on a metal frame on the closest side to the drivers door. At the opposite end of the assembly there are two screws that attach the assembly to the metal frame. They come in thru the top of the fuse block. You can feel them if you run your hand on top of the block. You can se how they run thru the metal frame and are kept in place by two metal clips.
if you want to change fuse type to newer plugin you will need to change fuse box. if you just need to change one fues that is stuck put on saftey goggles and use a pick and lift out the fuse by metal end caps
