Adolf Hitler sent his forces into the U.S.S.R. in spring of 1941. The attack would have three spearhead: Army group north would attack Leningrad (St. Petersburg today), Army group center would make the assault to Moscow, and Army Group south would attempt to capture the Caucausus, (Were Stalingrad, and many of Russia's oil fields were).
