The battle started at 2:00 A.M. on February 19, 1945 and ended March 16, 1945. It was not a ten year battle. It was a one month battle with 27,904 dead, 19,189 Americans wounded, and 1,083 Japanese captured.
Answerthe battle started february 19, 1935 and gone on for 10 yeas until march 26, 1945It depicts the raising of the US flag on Mt. Suribachi, the highest point on Iwo Jima, during the battle to capture the island from Japan near the end of WW2. It is seen as a memorial to the Marines who died there.
Te costly capture of Iwo Jima and Okinawa did hasten the end of the Pacific War as the factions were forced to holding peace talks.
Following the end of WW2, the US occupied Iwo Jima until 1968, when the island was returned to the authority of Japan. It is currently uninhabited with the exception of a Japanese naval air base, which is also used by US military forces. Iwo Jima is off limits to civilian personnel, but a Marine Corp memorial on the site of the raising of the flag is regularly visited by US Marines. See the link below for photos of the island and the memorial.

This question is confusing. I believe you meant why was the battle of Iwo Jima ended. The battle ended because the Allied Forces defeated the Japanese during the battles on that Island. Most of the Japanese forces died and some escaped back to Japan or other islands. The Allied Forces were able to take back the two airfields. Some pilots made emergency landings before the airfield could be completed. The name of Iwo Jima was changed by the Japanese after the war if you were referring to the name change. They did not want the island to retain its negative meaning name of Iwo Jima (I think it mean sulfur island but I am uncertain.)
During World War II, the Battle of Iwo Jima (February-March 1945) ended with full Allied control of the island. The 35-day battle consisted of an initial stage in which most of the island's primary strong-points were taken; the next stage, requiring nearly a full month, consisted of mopping up isolated resistance and individual defenders.
At the end of the movie will be a copyright notice telling you who the copyright holder of record is. That would be a good place to start.
The battle of Iwo Jima was basically Japan's last stand against the United States. The US had bombers that could hit Japan, however, they were being shot down by Japanese interceptors on Iwo Jima. The US sent in the Marines and Army Seabees(Army engineers who were working with the Marines) under the command of Admiral Chester Nimitz.Japan's defenses were commanded by General Tadamachi Kuribayashi, who killed himself at the end of Iwo Jima after an unsuccessful "banzai" charge to attempt to take the 3 airfields back from American hands at the end of the battle.A very famous picture of Marines raising the flag on Mt. Suribachi was taken during Iwo Jima. The US did not wipe out the remainder of the garrison stationed there, what remained killed themselves.
The USMC (United States Marine Corps) and the Japanese. I'm not quite sure whatJapanese force it was but I think it was the Japanese Imperial Army.
