This is the strongest cause for how the mass extinction of all life 60 million years ago occured, but is still just a theory rivaled by the possibility of tsunamis, masive earthquakes caused by volcanic activity which might also have influenced climate change by a cooldown caused by ash blocking out solar radiation causing plants to die in turn killing herbivores and so on or super heating the athsmosphere to the point where most animals couldn't survive it anymore except for the most adaptable. Either way these are still just theorys that could even happen to us.
"The strongest survive"
Simply - they died.
There is a lot of controversy about the Chicxulub event, but the theory has stood up against time, so it seems to be the most acceptable explanation for the demise of the dinosaurs.
Just off the Yucatan Peninsula, east of Belize.
The crater is named Chicxulub. It is 65 million years old, and 110 miles in diameter.
The mass extinction of the dinosaurs was 65 million years ago; it is generally believed to be the result of a meteor, in what today is Mexico.
That was 66 million years ago.
The Chicxulub Crater is located near the city Chicxulub in Mexico. This crater is approximately 66 million years old and discovered by Antonio Camago and Glenn Penfield in the late 1970's.
Giant meteors have hit the Earth many times. Probably the most destructive - so far - was Chicxulub which "may" have been the cause of the dinosaurs extinction. The most notable crater in the US is - not surprisingly - called meteor crater. Located in the Arizona desert, near Winslow.
A meteor hit the Earth in the Ural mountains of Russia, near the city of Chelyabinsk, in February 2013.
Chixulub on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico is famous for being near the epicentre of a meteorite impact that caused the final extinction of many animals (most famously all non avian dinosaurs) at the end of the Cretaceous Period 65.5 million years ago.
The word "meteor" refers to the weather (which is way weather men are called Meteorologists). Before it was appreciated that there were rocks from outer space burning in our atmosphere, meteors were thought to be some sort of weather phenomenon. Properly, a "meteor" is the light streak in the sky; the rock that caused the meteor, if one is lucky enough to find it, is a "meteorite" and if an astronaut encounters a rock in near-Earth space BEFORE it becomes a meteor/meteorite, that's a "meteoroid."

Near the town of Chicxulub Puerto on the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico.

Chicxulub is a small town at the northern tip of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. We're not certain, but there are strong indications that a massive comet or asteroid struck the Earth in the seas near Chicxulub about 65 million years ago.
A meteorite from space that blocked out the sun and made acid rain which poisoned all the plants so herbivores died out, with no food supplies for carnivores they all died out. Good bye Tyrannosaurus Rex.:(
At the Chicxulub crater, which covers almost half of the Yucatan peninsula.
There are plenty of famous meteors, to know which one specifically you are speaking about, I would need a name. The most famous is probably the one that many believe killed all the dinosaurs. This meteor is estimated to be about 6 miles wide, and created a crater about 110 miles across. Many believe that the Chicxulub Crater in Yucatan, Mexico is this meteor.
Unknown at the present time - but you can assume something in near Earth orbit.
When a meteor shower is in progress, it's visible from the entire night side of the earth. Search "meteor shower" on line for the dates of meteor showers expected in the near future.
fallobur town is near meteor falls
While travelling through the solar system it comes near the earth and is captured by the earth's gravity. It is pulled towards the earth until they collide.
