The name Yeshua, which translates Jesus or Joshua, was first used when Joshua was introduced as the leader of the Israelites.

Edited by What.it.is on 6/5/10:

The name Jesus first appeared in the King James Version revision of 1769, 241 years ago as an anglicized transcription of the Latin name Iesus (KJV of 1611) which is a translation of the Greek name Ieousus which is a transliteration of Yahusha (pronounced Yahoo-sha).

These are the modern English letters for the Hebrew symbols for the name of the anointed one: YHUSHA

FYI:

1. These are the modern English letters for the Hebrew symbols of the name Joshua: YHUSHA. When spelled in English form, Yahusha, pronounced Yahoo-sha.

A:Matthew's Gospel is the first book in the New Testament and is therefore the first book in The Bible to mention Jesus, at verse 1:1.

Paul's epistles were written long before Matthew's Gospel, as was Hebrews. Chronologically, these mentioned Jesus even before the gospels were written.

Additional Comments:

Without mentioning His name 'Jesus,' many biblical scholars see this Scripture in Genesis as a prophecy of Him to come and therefore the first mentioning of Him:

Genesis 3:15New King James Version (NKJV)

15 And I will put enmity

Between you and the woman,

And between your seed and her Seed;

He shall bruise your head,

And you shall bruise His heel."
