Good question but you have it reversed. The term Ruach Ha'Kodesh in Hebrew literally means Holy "Breath" which is their word for "Spirit". As in all character based or Glyph based languages, the same character can have many meanings depending on the context and applied cultural usage. The idea of "Ghost" comes into English through the Swiss/German translations and this is a word for them meaning something quite similar, only a ghost or giest can even be a disembodied ancestor or person who wanders where that is never the Biblical case. So the usage turned from Spirit to Ghost when the Scriptures were translated into a language where a word like this was closest in meaning and then became transliterated into the other tongue. Baptism is a good example of this...in English the ideas most closely alligned with the Hebrew Concepts of the Tevillah Service (bathing in a Mikvah or pool or river for sanctification, consecration, repentance, etc.,) is immersion or identification by association but in the Greek of the New Testament the words Bapto and Baptidzo are used being closest to the Hebrew in meaning and have been "transliterated" as opposed to being translated. I hope this has helped. Please keep on asking intelligent questions many are just put forth to mock and annoy (we know who that spirit's father is). May the Lord bless you and raise you up.

The holy ghost or (spirit) is another form of Jesus and God
Holy Ghost was how the King James Version of the bible translated the name in 1611 but 20th century English translators tended to feel that "ghost" carried a more paranormal rather than supernatural connotation. As a result most English versions of the bible published after 1950 utilize "Spirit" when referring to the Holy Spirit.
