In the early 1960s I remember in those days that blocks of ice were still being delivered for ice boxes which kept food cool by having big blocks of ice placed in insulated cabinets. It did not take long given Australia's climate for the fridge to be come a very popular item.

How does an appliance become charged?

Two different methods, either: 1) Faulty internal wiring is the most common cause. A live cable is somehow electrically connected to appliance. 2) Static build up, can be caused by internal mechanical movement. Note that the appliance may appear charged if a static shock is received, but the charge is not actually received from the appliance, but instead delivered to the appliance from the person.

How do you use appliance dolly?

There should be instructions found somewhere on the dolly but if not then here goes. Have two people perform this. Tip the appliance just enough so that you can fit the plate at the bottom of the dolly under the appliance. Make sure that the dolly is on the side of the appliance that will allow it to fit through any doorway. Once the plate on the dolly if fully under the appliance and the dolly is snug against the appliance, hook the strap around the appliance and back into the the ratchet. The strap is very, very important! Ratchet the strap until it holds the dolly tight to the appliance. Here is where some common sense comes into play. Are you strong enough to tip the appliance towards you and balance it on the dolly as you push or pull it where you want it to go? If the answer is no or you are not sure then you need to find someone that can. Many people have been crushed or injured by having a refrigerator fall on them. If you have any doubts, call someone.

How much did the ice cream machine cost in 1841?

A refrigerator (colloquially fridge) is a common household appliance that consists of a thermally insulatedcompartment and a heat pump (mechanical, electronic, or chemical) that transfers heat from the inside of the fridge to its external environment so that the inside of the fridge is cooled to a temperature below the ambient temperature of the room. Refrigeration is an essential food storage technique in developed countries. The lower temperature lowers the reproduction rate of bacteria, so the refrigerator reduces the rate of spoilage.A refrigerator maintains a temperature a few degrees above the freezing point of water. Optimum temperature range for perishable food storage is 3 to 5 °C (37 to 41 °F). A similar device that maintains a temperature below the freezing point of water is called a freezer. The refrigerator replaced the icebox, which was a common household appliance for almost a century and a half prior. For this reason, a refrigerator is sometimes referred to as anicebox in American usage.
