During the years spanning from 1763 to 1774, British control placed upon the New England colonies several acts which constituted as taxes upon goods being traded into and out of the colonies. These acts/taxes were viewed as taxation without representation and caused an undue burden on the new lands that made it almost impossible to live under. This caused the British crown to excise force upon the new colonies to keep them in line and the first continental congress was formed to absolve the Americas from British authoritarian rule. On April 18-19th, 1775 the British sent redcoats to Lexington and Concord to put down rioting and steal gun powder from the towns there. This was the official start of the Revolutionary War.
