The Wright Brothers were responsible for the first manned flight and for the design of the first and second airplanes. The brothers did start a company to sell their airplanes and also to teach people to fly them. There was not a large demand for them however and they turned instead to exhibition flying.
becasue they felt like it
Since the start of human life, we have wanted to take to the air and fly like the birds. Human curiosity is the driving force that led the Wright brothers towards constructing their plane.
It was started by hand. One person would lay on the airplane while another person would spin the propeller. The engine had no battery so an electric starter was not an option. The props were carefully turned by hand to start the engines.
oproximently 7 years from start to finish
The Wright Brothers, 1903, with their pedal-powered "Wright Flyer" is considered the start of aviation.
