The 151 original Pokemon cards are so expensive as they were the first edition and many are hard to find.
The limited edition Pokemon cards that are a part of the first generation total to 151. If there is a first edition mark it is very valuable, and diamond cards are also very uncommon and valuable.
The first edition of the Pokemon cards is considered the most valuable possession, however, don't miss out to look out for the first edition stamp on the card. Now, to price the Pokemon cards, it is important to find out the type and condition as well. After sorting out everything, finally you should refer to online price guide. You may visit beckett.com or browse the auction sites.
While most first edition Pokemon cards are worth approximately 50.00, Machamp is an exception and is only worth around 3.00. The reason for this is that millions of these card were printed and mismarked as first editions.
The First Edition cards are more expensive because there are fewer of them. They only make one First Edition release and after that it's all unlimited. Fewer copies of something makes it more rare and hence, more valuable. Solution First Edition are somewhat more expensive because you get a little extra writing on the cards. Even from the original country Japan, they don't use 1st Edition cards because theirs no such thing. Either that or the cards I got were just Unlimited Edition Japanese cards anyway.
Have a look on eBay or ask any friends that collect the cards. You can also get first edition cards from a pack of 9.
no, nothing can be first edition without a stamp. if you dont have a stamp your not first edition,

On the left of the part of the card that lists the pokemon's weight/height/type (which is usually right below the picture), first edition cards have a symbol that says "Edition 1" with the 1 in a circle. Hope that helps. :)
If a card is 1st edition, it will say so, it will have '1st edition' written on it. The concept of 1st edition only applies for cards in booster sets, including Duelist Packs though - promo cards never have '1st edition' even if they were the first printing of that card.
The first edition bundle case was exclusive to the PSVita first edition bundle and cannot be bought separately. This will not stop first edition bundle owners from selling the case, however.
