Absolutely, The Wyandottes were developed in New York State and Wisconsin in the late 19th century. They are very cold hardy, moderately early maturing and easy to keep. They are well adapted to confinement during the coldest of winter months and can be left to free range in the milder seasons. They are a duel purpose bird laying up to 4 eggs per week and can be excellent meat birds.
Depending on the breed, they start laying around when they turn a year old.
