German shepards are very protective and are excelent guard dogs but they usually start acting like they should act at about a year old ,for eg ,i own a German Shepard and a rottweiler the rottie is 3 years and the gsd just turned 1 and hes now starting to act well how should i say over protective when people come in he barks that's ok then he tries to attack them wile the rottweiler is fine. so don't worry i will asure you that he or she will make an excelen guard dog and pet
