The ipad 3 will be jailbreakable but you have to wait for th IOS 5.1 jailbreak to come out
iOS 4 is the name of the iPad operating system (iOS) and the version (4)
ios 8 can be installed on ipad by first registering or have your device UDID registered by a developer and then download the iOS 8 beta and install it on your ipad
iOS 7 won't work on a iPad 1, because an iPad 1 doesnt have enough RAM memory to handle iOS 7. Because of that, Apple didn't make iOS 7 available for iPad 1.
Yes. All iPad minis should be running iOS 6 and can update to iOS 7 this fall.
Unfortunately, the first generation iPad is not compatible with iOS 6. Apple stopped supporting the iPad 1 with updates after iOS 5.1.1, which was the version just before the iOS 6 update. Interestingly, the iPad 2 is still supported to this day.
I think that by Microsoft (the company's name) you mean Windows (the operating system made by Microsoft). The iPad does not come with a version of Windows installed on it, and Windows is not made to be installed an an iPad. All iPads have a version of Apple's iOS installed on it. iPhones and iPod touches also use iOS. The current iOS version is 4.3.5

iOS 7 Can't run on an iPad 1. The hardware is simply not powerful enough to run the operating system. I believe iOS 5 is the newest OS that will run on the original iPad.
iOS 6.0 is expected in October of 2012.
New iPads that come with iOS 5 do not require a computer to setup your iPad. If it's older than iOS 5 then yes you need a computer for setup.
