there is no specified release date yet for resident evil 6 some people say 2013,2012,2015 and more but there doesn't seem to be a specific release date
to be honest i don't think there will be a re6 because they killed off all the main re enemies and any re game should have the same main enemies that we have been trying to defeat since the start for example umbrella,wesker,Spencer and more
im not saying there won't be a re6 but this is unlikely as wesker died in re5 and if they brought him back people wouldn't like it as it would be more like a matrix game where people don't die which fans didn't like in re5 as it would be getting a bit too unrealistic.
resident evil is popular for its rich storyline plots. and what i mean is like when you play the game there might be points which are a bit strange and make you think wow it was lucky someone shot that monster because i didn't have enough ammo for a boss fight anyway but who shot it??? then when you complete it you unlock another story its might be shorter but it fills in the gaps like your rival shot the creature to help you a good example of this is re4 bigcheese vs leon in a cutscene Ada shoots the bigcheese and using her grapple escapes. this is carrying on the question do they like each other or hate each other which was raised during re2 which is still a mystery today.
but don't forget old re fans who miss the slow paced zombie survival Horror re games who want the next re game to go back to its roots and since re5 sales were so low they would probably do that to make more money but this would be a problem because in order to be a re6 our heros Jill chris sheva leon and others are going to need a old enemy only possible one they could use is wesker but thst would annoy people because of the matrix sort of thing i mentioned earlier and then there would be loop holes in the story which ruins re's good storyline plots and i would rather there be no re6 as opposed to a re game with a rubbish story with no good explanation to how wesker survived and why Zombies are back.
so inconclusion i don't think there will be a re6 however they could make remakes of re2 and re3 for ps3 and xbox360 which re fans have long anticipated for.
