It has been shown that most conception takes place at or around January 20th. Knowing this you can assume most chasing activity will take place 10 days before and 10 days after. In pre rut activity you could include rubs and/or scraping. This usually starts in mid to late December but could be earlier depending on hunting pressure and deer density.
In late December to early January usually. Rutting activity can begin as early as December in the northern regions of Alabama. In southern Alabama you should look for true rutting activity ie. chasing to begin on or around January 10. This date is pretty much solid knowing that most conception occurs on January 20th.
Typically later than other states, Alabama's rut season is usually around the 18th of January (give or take 4-5 days)...and also dependent on weather. The colder the better.
The young bucks are starting to chase does. Full rut will be about the 10th of November.
