Watery eyes and wheezing is usually caused by a upper respiratory infection. Any signs of respiratory problems (wheezing or panting) will require a vet examination. Make a appointment at your Vet and have your dog examined. There are 24-hour emergency vets in most areas and even if you cannot find one that is local, chances are you can find one somewhere that can talk to you over the phone and give you some guidance. Animals instinctively mask their pain- it's a survival trait. There's always the possibility that what's really going on is worse than what you see. He could have a case of a doggy cold or he could have a really serious condition. Coughing and wheezing is never a good sign, it's a symptom of fluid in the lungs or airpipe. Now, this could be from a touch of phlegm from being just a little under the weather or it could be a big problem. Contact your vet

∙ 11y agoA dog wheezing happens to a lot of dogs for a number of reasons. The reasons range from life threatening to routine. The best thing to do is to have your dog checked out by a vet. Until then, what works for my dog, is to have him sit up, and if possible stand on back legs if he/she is a small dog..
