Salt water is heavier than fresh so it will be at the bottom and affect all organisms there, in fact the more saline the water is the heavier it becomes to the point where the fresh will not mix or dilute it but flow over it.
Poor health.
Jamestown was a very dirty place. There were mosquitoes carrying malaria in the swamps, the water was brackish, and a major drought almost caused the settlement to disappear Williamsburg was on higher land away from disease. Also, the water was drinkable. Overall, Williamsburg was a much cleaner and nicer place to live.
It is in southeastern Louisiana, just upstream from the Mississippi River delta. The city is in Orleans Parish (county), which is a coterminous division of the state. It began as a dry silt-formed portage between the Mississippi River and brackish Lake Pontchatrain to the north, which empties more directly into the Gulf of Mexico than the meandering river. It is located near 30°N 90°W, inland from the coast of the central Gulf of Mexico.

because Jamestown was near the Indian and they did not get along other reason is most of the water was not fresh so they had to drink polluted water other reason is when its winter people get sick and they had no medicine and no food because they did not know that
