Partially only. No longer would sacrifices be required as Jesus is humankind's ultimate sacrifice. No longer is there a need for ceremonial cleansing as Jesus takes away the sins of the world if we repent and follow in His footsteps. And no longer is there a need for a human High Priest who will eventually die. Jesus is our eternal High Priest and Mediator to the Father on behalf of all mankind. All gentiles are now grafted onto the vine and share in eternal salvation.

All other ordinances and laws remain intact. Just follow the example of Jesus and the Apostles to see.

God had the New Covenant in mind before the foundation of the world was laid. He tells a part of it in Jeremiah31:31-34, but it was not until God's Son, Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose again that the New Covenant was put into force. When the New Covenant came into force, the Old Covenant ceased to exist.

What is the Law of Abraham in the Bible?

The Law of Abraham in the Bible refers to the covenant made between God and Abraham, where Abraham was promised numerous descendants and that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars in the sky. Why did God make the first covenant when he knew he was going to replace it?

God made the first covenant with humanity as a way to establish a relationship and guide them towards righteousness. While God knew that humanity would eventually need a new covenant through Jesus Christ, the first covenant served as an important foundation in demonstrating God's faithfulness and revealing humanity's need for redemption.

Hebrews made a covenant with God. What was the deal that was struck?

Actually God made a covenant with the the nation of Israel. No deal was struck, God made certain promises, and the people of Israel agreed to keep the commands of God ie the promises were conditional on human obedience. The covenant was made with the nation of Israel at Sinai: Exodus 19:5 Now, if you will obey me and keep my covenant, you will be my own people. The whole earth is mine, but you will be my chosen people, God would be Israel's sovereign ruler, guide, provider, protector and sustainer. Israel was to obey God. God gave Israel the Law as His requirements for Israel -- the Moral law the Ceremonial Law and the Judicial Law

How does God give his law to all people?

God's law was given to the nation of Israel not to all people. Jesus fulfilled the law and now is the mediator of a new covenant Rom 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

What is a sentence for covenant?

A covenant is a contract between a lesser person and a greater person. A covenant is seldom between equals, so the lesser person is usually asking for protection by the greater person. In return, the greater person gets allegiance and tribute from the lesser person. "Micheal made a covenant with Mary to protect her property." "Abraham's covenant with God extended to all the children that God promised him."

Was the second covenant the old testament or the New Testament?

God made many covenants in the Old Testament, but I assume you are speaking about the "New Covenant" vs the "Old Covenant" which God gave Israel through Moses at Mount Sinai. The "New Covenant" or second was mentioned in the Old Testament several times as a covenant which was yet future. The "New Covenant" started in the New Testament when Jesus Christ died on the cross of Calvary, was buried, and was resurrected the third day. The 'Old Covenant" was by Law and the "New Covenant" was by grace.

What was the covenant between God and the Israelites?

The answer depends on how far back you would like to go. In essence there were two main covenants involving the nation of Israel. The first would be the Abrahamic covenant established between God himself and Abraham in the year 1943 BCE (at the time known as Abram). At Genesis 12:1-3 God tells Abraham that he will make him a "great nation" (Israel) and by means of this nation the entire world would be blessed. The specifics of the land that this great nation would inhabit are enlarged upon at Genesis 13:14-18. Note that the Abrahamic Covenant had no "expiration" date, but was to extend through an unspecified period of time until it accomplished the purpose it had been established for: all nations living in blessed harmony with God as stated at Genesis 17:3-8 (incidentally the 17th chapter of Genesis also establishes the Covenant of Circumcision which was a means to identify those who had entered into the covenant made with Abram). Then there is the Law Covenant established with the nation of Israel and mediated by Moses. After an extend period under the subjugation of Egypt God led the Israelites towards the lands he had promised they would inhabit (by then the Israelites numbered perhaps about 2 million). In 1513 BCE, 430 years after the Abrahamic covenant's establishment, and as we read at Exodus Chapter 17, the nation of Israel agreed to the Law Covenant (often referred to as the Mosaic Law). The Law was intended for several purposed including: to organize the Israelites as a nation, lead the nation to the Messiah (who would be the key descendant of Abraham that would make it possible for 'all nations to be blessed' ) and to keep them free from pagan practices. When the Messiah was born into the world his perfect way of living and devotion to God fulfilled the Law. In fact God, through the prophet Jeremiah, had already told the nation that at some time in the future the Law would no longer be in force (Jeremiah 31:31-34). The Messiah's eventual sacrifice made the Law invalid along with its animal sacrifices and ritual atonements. The Christ's blood was worth far more than the blood of the animals upon which the Law was based. Now Christ would act as the mediator between sinners and God (Colossians 2:8-17). So the Law Covenant came to an end after Jesus sacrifice (see also Matt. 27:51; Mark 15:38; Luke 23:45) but the Abrahamic Covenant continues, again, until its intended purpose has been accomplished: all nations of the world being blessed.

Why is Jesus a religious leader?

The Creator of heaven and earth is God. God is the supreme God and it is He who started the nation of Israel and gave them His law to live by (The Law of Moses). This was the start of true religion. This Law of Moses is called the "Old Covenant" that God made with His people. About 2000 years ago God sent His Son, Jesus Christ to earth to die on the cross of Calvary, be buried, and resurrect the third day. This act of Jesus was to save mankind from their sins. (Something the Law could not do) This act of dying and resurrecting also ended the "Old Covenant" and began the "New Covenant". You will notice the Bible is in two parts. The Old Testament pertains to the "Old Covenant" and the New Testament pertains to the "New Covenant". Jesus Christ is not just a religious Leader, He is the ultimate Leader. John 14:6, Jesus tells us, " I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. This tells us that Jesus is the only way to heaven. There is only one God and one Savior whereby men can be saved. God and Jesus are the same, the One God.
