When i attmpt to start my car it starts sometimes but sometimes it doesnt. is it the starter?

what happens when it dosent start a click dose it try to turn at all
it does not turn at all</ there is no nose at all and dose not trun over and the lights do not dim. We took the starter off had it checked and they said it was good, put it back on and it started. Next day went to the gas station put gas in it and nothing wouldn't start. Pushed it ten feet tryed it stated right up.

you can try to short the starter motor . take a screw driver and bridge ffrom battery cable on starter to ignition wire on starter. if starter is good, engine will crank. if starter is bad , solenoid will click if no clicking, solenoid is bad

hit the starter with a hammer as ur trying to startr it an if it starts than its ur starter lol dats what i do to my 92 dodge colt. i dont have a hammer but i do hav a tool to change spark plugs and when my car doesnt start i tap the starter then try to start it and it usually starts.

dude trust on this. its your starter motor, it happened to me once. it will just cranks and it feels like the battery is dying out but nope its your solenoid on your starter motor that is worn out. best of luck dude

Probably the starter, have someone turn the key to the crank position while you gently tap the starter with a hammer or bar. If it starts change the starter. If not try shorting the starter solenoid to see if that works.
