My sympathies! You must be feeling bad.

If there is blood present, it means that you have been retching violently, and have a practically empty stomach. I had it too from being sick on an empty stomach. It can be alarming to look at. It might be worth having a word with your doctor (or midwife, if you've started to see her yet) just for reassurance.

Try and eat something before you get up. I expect you have heard that one before, but if you have a biscuit and some milk by your bed and have them a little while before you get up, it might help. To be frank, for many women they just come right back up again, but at least it means that you won't be being sick on an empty stomach, which really hurts.

If you don't like milk, try flat coke. I found that very helpful. That isn't the healthiest drink normally, but at the moment you're thinking in terms of what you can keep down, and it is important to try and take fluids. The healthy eating can come later.

Try a small amount of cereal for breakfast. Some people swear by cocoa pops or cornflakes. If you can't keep anything down, try to sip small amounts of water. I know that when you are being sick, there is a temptation not to drink liquids as you think
'what's the use' but you must avoid getting dehydrated. Even if you aren't able to eat much, the baby will be fine and taking nutrients from you just so long as you are managing to keep some liquids down.

If you can't face water, try sucking ice cubes.

Some women swear by mint tea.

For the rest of the day, as for lots of people the nausea comes on and off during the whole day - try and eat little and often and avoid getting a completely empty stomach if you can as that makes it worse.

I hope this helps you. Probably this stage won't last too long and you can start to bloom.

Wish you better

Do you only get morning sickness when having a girl?

Is twins morning sickness different from singles?

Not the classic hormone caused one, it occurs too soon in pregnancy for the twins to mass enough to count. However, often morning sickness is caused by low blood sugar. It often happens in the mornings because you are not eating during the night, but the baby continues to use your stored calories. This can make your blood sugar levels dip by morning. Low blood sugars can make you feel nauseated, shaky, and sweaty and even vomit. When you have twins or other multiple fetus pregnancies, the blood sugars can dip even more during fasting at night and you may feel more sickness from that in the morning before you take in some calories to raise your blood sugar back up. See the related question below, "Why does eating a protein meal late at night prevent morning sickness?", for more information about this cause of morning sickness in many women.

How early can you feel morning sickness?

When does morning sickness start? Nausea and vomiting that happen during pregnancy in the first trimester, often called as "morning sickness". In most women, symptoms of morning sickness start in 5th to 6th week of pregnancy. When does morning sickness end? These symptoms are mild and go away after the 12 to 14 weeks. Symptoms include nausea or feeling sick, as well as actually being sick. Morning sickness can occur at any time of the day though it occurs most often in the morning because blood sugar levels are low after a night without food. Hormonal changes in the first three months are probably one cause. It can be one of the most tiring problems in early pregnancy.
