It might be your tie rods. Jack up the car and take off the front tires. The tie rod ends are located on the back of the hub assembly and shock housing. The inner tie rods are connected directly to the outer ends. Look at the rubber bushings on the ends to see if they are worn. Pull on the inner rod and outer end. Now, there will be subtle movement as the rod end rotates on the ball, but should still be firm. If there is too much movement or you hear a clanging or grinding noise, then your inner tie rods are the culprit and need replaced.

When you turn the steering wheel and hear a popping noise, it could be due to the power steering pump and a sticking valve so there is not enough hydraulic pressure. It could be caused by the steering linkage going out or low power steering fluid.
if your jaw is popping it maybe that your grinding your teeth, or just sleep on your left or right. So i would prefer a mouth gaurd, or see a dentist:)
If the popping sound is more like you feel bumping in the steering wheel then its the I-shaft in the steering column. If the car is newer then check your warranty at the dealership, they will cover the replacement. The wheel has a whole in it.
twurking is when a girl shakes her butt on a mans croch it is kind of like popping or grinding
Neck-popping could be arthritis("cervical spondylosis")...The hip "grinding" could also be arthritis, but I would expect a lot of groin pain to accompany that... Severe arthritis pain is normally felt in the groin.
Inspect the steering components, suspension, and brakes.
I don't have the answer,,,my Stratus 2001 just started doing the same thing, only it's more like a popping/cracking sound when steering wheel turned to the far right or left. Took it to repair shop after work today; mechanic drove it and reported that it sounds to him like a spring or bolt is either coming loose inside the column or already has. I have an appt to bring it in to disassemble the steering column this weekend to find the solution to the problem.
