Popping noise when you turn the steering wheel?
When you turn the steering wheel and hear a popping noise, it could be due to the power steering pump and a sticking valve so there is not enough hydraulic pressure. It could be caused by the steering linkage going out or low power steering fluid.
The wheel has a whole in it.
Check the fluid in the power steering. If it is low the car will make noise when you turn the wheel.
You probably need new tie rods on that side. have someone turn the wheel and check to see if you have in play any where.

It sounds like the inner steering shaft. I had the same problem on a 1997 Dodge Ram.
Your steering wheel is hard to turn have to use both hands. It usually makes a noise when turning.

if u put wider aftermarket tires on then the tires are rubbing on the fender wheel well if you are refering to in/at the actual steering wheel, then some grinding noise is normal. it's possible the electrical contacts for airbag/cruise/radio controls, whatever you have on the steering wheel are making some grinding noise.

either your drive axles are bad and need to be replaced or the boot around your steering column going through the floor board needs to be greased.
Turn on the signal and listen for the clicking noise. If it is still clicking occasionally then you can follow the noise and feel where it is located. If it has totally stopped then look on top of the steering column behind the steering wheel.
sounds like a front wheel drive with bad cv joints, which are your drive shafts going to both front wheels.
Check for: worn/seized front end parts & possible driveshaft issues
More than likely you have a constant velocity joint going bad, these are on the end of the drive axles that connect to the inside of the front wheels. Sometimes if they are not worn badly the joints can be repacked with grease and new boots installed, but usually it's better to replace them.
